Pros

Great company vision, I still 100% support the company's mission statement. Team lunches were good and helped to get through the day. Most employees were lovely people as people (but awful as colleagues).

Cons

Double standards when it comes to work hours and family values. The company is great for employees with children who can work from home some days and adjust their hours around their kids' school schedule. God help you if you do not have kids though! Anyone who does not have kids is basically expected to give up their life, be there every day from early in the morning till late (past your contracted work hours), continue working from home after the office closes, work over weekends and during holidays. The claim of putting families first only applies for your own children, if you are an adult and want to spend time with your parents or siblings whom you may never get to see they clearly are not included in the family first mentality. Short deadlines and miscommunication. Each department has its own plans and targets, these are not communicated till last minute, and you suddenly find out you have to create something for tomorrow because another department has been planning this for weeks and has promised partners it will happen but nobody bothered to inform the other departments and check IF they have time in their already full schedules to actually deliver what is needed in time. Of course if you don't deliver you are in trouble because that was your task so the choice is between delaying your own department's work or ruining another department's weeks of work. You'll get told off either way and made to feel inadequate and like it's your own fault for not being able to do way too many tasks in not enough time. Trash talking former employees. There was a big turnover in employees for a period of time. The people who were still part of the team made sure to point out how terrible the previous people were both at their jobs and as people and made fun of them.

Pros

- There is a team of dedicated, passionate, intelligent people working to design toys that inspire millions of kids around the world to love STEM. There is a particular emphasis on keeping everything gender neural to appeal to all children. - There is a culture of 'freedom and accountability' - You’ll be given the freedom to set your own strategy, work hours that suit your schedule (childcare etc.) to achieve the goals for your role. But if you do not deliver, you are held accountable. - The Founders and many of the team are parents. This keeps decision making and strategy grounded and focused on serving the needs of families and kids. Members of the team who are not parents are invited to regular user-testing session to engage with the products and kids first hand! - Cross departmental and collaborative working are actively encouraged and celebrated. There is lots of variety and no two days are the same. Every member of the team has the opportunity to work with many different facets of the business. - There are clear guidelines and structures for meetings, keeping meetings to a minimum, concise and focused. This allows for lots of ‘working time’. - Managment invest in top of the range equipment (MacBooks etc) and care about the working environment. The London offices reflect the playful nature of the brand and values. There are cute perks like bike storage, quality coffee, and the team take it in turns to chose the music in the office.

Cons

- The global toy industry has gone through 12 months of unprecedented change, this has meant that toy businesses have had to adapt to survive (many have not!). These pressures to adapt quickly have made change a constant for the past year which can be challenging for some people. - There has been significant team turnover in the past 12 months at all levels of the business. There is no one reason for this in my opinion. This can be unsettling and challenging for some people.
