Pros

Good Customer Philosophy Good Vacation and Personal Time Off Benefits (If you are ever able to use them.) Matching 401K Benefit Provide Necessary Tools and Equipment for Service Provide Decent Company Service Vehicles Good Professional Service/IT Specialist to help when you need help.

Cons

Company restructures on a yearly basis causing an uncertainty to employees on which direction the company is heading. This is now an ESOP company, but is still being purchased over a ten year period from the current owner. The ESOP program is used by management to try and motivate employees as if they are 100% owners and a reason to not pay higher wages. I have seen where bonus incentive programs were used to motivate project managers, but were not paid at the end of the year because the company spent too much money on other things. Management uses bullying tactics to manage employees which causes poor moral within the company. There are managers that do not lead by example and have no in-field experience. There is no balance between work and your family. If you are on salary, be prepaid to be available while on vacation and your days off. Also be expected to work 60 plus hours a week. If you are hourly, be prepaid to catch up on paperwork and emails on your own time as you will be scrutinized for overtime. The office staff is poorly organized and struggles on tracking service and project inventory. Missing or undocumented equipment gets blamed on the people working out in the field. You are left on your own to figure out company policies and procedures. Once you finally feel like you have everything figured out, they will change the following year without your knowledge. You will be expected to work nights and weekends to get your job done, but do not expect management to be there for you during those times. If or when you fail at your position, be prepaid to take all of the blame, even though you were setup for failure. Company struggles on implementing policies and procedures for efficiently managing projects. Due to company inefficiencies, your position in the company will be more difficult than it should be. You will find meeting the clients’ expectations easier than meeting Tech Systems.

Pros

Management treats you like an adult, doesn't breath down your neck. People in the company are extremely helpful and sharp. Pay is good, retirement is better. The people on my team are great. Pay for drive time. I can basically set my own schedule, with some exceptions. They like to hire from within the company. They have meetings quarterly in regards to the state of the companies finances. The better the company does, the better the employee-owners do. It's a tangible and visible data that shows I picked the right company.

Cons

Working at an enterprise level in the security integration industry, there are parts of the job that can suck. In the grand scheme of things, they are not terrible. There is an on-call rotation. When it's your turn, if a call comes in and a dispatch is required, you have to go. 10 pm, 3 am, 12 pm. There is a reasonable amount of time to drive to sites. Jobs can also start very early or very late. In this line of work though, it really comes with the territory. The clients do not want their stuff left in a state that is not secure. Also, the agreement dictates that the technician will not leave the site until the work is complete if a system goes down. There are some rare exceptions to this, such as client/customer states that is doesn't work for them or is not required.
