Pros

1. The work environment in the office was fun and upbeat. 2. Fun co-workers.

Cons

1. It is draw on commission. If you sell more than 3 accounts a week you get paid commission($125 per account), if you don't you get a supplemental check of $300. Basically you are being paid $7.25 for 41.5 hours worth of work. And the supplemental checks aren't really a pay check, it is basically a loan. You have to pay back the supplemental checks you receive. For example, the next week you sell 6 accounts and you think you are going to get an awesome check, you have to account for the supplement you have to pay back. You also don't get paid on the accounts that aren't installed. For example, if you sign up 8 new customers and only 4 get installed then you only get paid for the 4. 2. The hours are insane. They say you work from 11:00am to 8:00pm but really you work all day. "Top leaders" are supposed to be in the office by 10:30am at the latest. And Depending what Walmart store you are given you may not get home time 9:00pm or later. For example, they have 20 plus Walmart stores in their territory. Some are in San Antonio, but most are out of town (Pleasanton, Pearsall, Kerrville, Uvalde, Hondo, Borne, Seguin, and Floresville). Most of the time you go to the store in pairs and sometimes you will go solo. They say going solo is a test of your mental strength, but really it's is an excuse that the traffic in the store is too slow and they won't send 2 people. Keep in mind also that they do not reimburse you for gas or mileage. 20% of the employees do not have vehicles and or are too broke to pitch in on gas. So if you are driving gas is basically at your expense. 3. You are also expected to stay in the store later than 8:00pm if you have not made a sale by 8. It isn't required, but at the same time it is frowned upon. They take it as you aren't giving your full effort and you aren't management material. The call center for processing accounts is open till 10 so they expect you to stay in the store till 10. 4. If you have a personal life or a life for that matter kiss it goodbye once you start. This job will consume your life. Your friends will become co workers and your co workers will become friends. There is no sense of professionalism and a lot of profanity in the office. It is very hard to respect managers there when you probably saw them getting drunk the night before. This work environment resembles a fraternity and or college. Work during the day and party all night. 5. Business Trips. They aren't business trips, traditionally you get a per diem and living expenses paid for. You are working out of another cities Walmart’s and staying at another owner's house, paying for gas/mileage, and your food. It's not a business trip at all, they say its boot camp for sales, but really it's just awkward and expensive.

It sounds like you did not have a great experience with us and that is unfortunate. Many of these concerns could have been addressed if you spoke to management. We could have changed some things, offered a different pay scale, delivered some more sales training etc. When we have a great person, we will do whatever it takes to keep them happy and growing in their career here. We do in fact use a version of the 'draw on commission,' which many sales companies use when working with inexperienced sales people. Companies use this so they can take a chance and work with someone who may be great, but their resume does not show it. Not everyone in the company is paid the same way. This review is concerning however and here are a couple things we will change based on this feedback. 1. Staying in the field until 10pm is absurd and if that has been messaged as an expectation, we will clarify otherwise. Working long is not the same as working hard. 2. Business trips are not meant to make people uncomfortable or make people spend. Quite the opposite. We will cover additional gas and if someone is uncomfortable they may ask for more rooms moving forward. 3. We will step up the professionalism. Profanity is not necessary. A couple clarifications: - We stand by only paying for accounts that have been installed. If sales are not installed, that is a good indication that the customer was lied to. We do not want to reward that. - We care about our people and the only ones at risk of being released are the ones who do not do their job, which is common in... every company. Perhaps people are let go due to lack of sales, or because they leave early or have broken one of the retailer codes of conduct. Unless the reviewer above was in management, they do not know why a specific person was let go. - The best in sales is not the person who gets promoted, the proof in that is by looking at the current management team. There are many factors that are considered when offering a promotion.

Pros

Sooo many pros!! What really made me stick to the company of course the opportunity but the fact everyone cares about your personal development!! I have been chasing the opportunity for 15 months! Best decision I've made! I know the skills I have gotten here will make me successful where ever I go IF I were to leave! NOT GONNA HAPPEN THOUGH! Yeah we do retail sales in Walmart so what! If all you see is Walmart you have a fixed mindset!! Because of Walmart I'm going to retire my mom, because of Walmart I will be in charge of my life and time not have to ask for vacation time or days off, not have to ask for a raise or be worried about losing my job tomorrow, because of Walmart I can change someone else's family tree and develop them into the best possible version of themselves!

Cons

None! The people who gave poor reviews have a weak mentality that's why this opportunity is PURE! WORK HARD GET THE REWARD!! If you give up easy and have a poor attitude, low standards and mentality work a 9-5 and be AVERAGE!

Pros

Fun work environment (weekly night outs), everyone is friendly and outgoing, great for competitive jock-type personalities, and it's challenging as a good learning experience.

Cons

Yes the website mentions that this is a sales company, however I was anticipating this to be more on the high profile within-the-confines-of-a-boardroom side of the spectrum, especially with the mandatory business professional attire. You eventually find out on the second interview that you will be pitching DirecTV to the citizens of Walmart, a target demographic characterized as medium to low income with usually bad credit. I decided to give it a shot since I needed a job right away, already waist-deep in the recruiting process. It didn't take long to realize that bullshitting people at Walmart to buy tv service (the opiate of the 20th century minded masses) did not flow well with my personality.

We do not want to waste either your time or the company's time and money with training new employees. We appreciate the feedback because it may help us get a better suited applicant. Having an entry level start with the company, receive base pay and training, then quit angrily after they realized they don't like the job, is a waste of time for the candidate and the company. We want everyone we hire to have a clear understanding of what we do and how we do it, which is why we have a second round interview that includes a shadow. It is not within our agreement to post partner's or client brands on the website or ads for applicants otherwise we would do so. As for our customer base, we do not consider them "low brow." We had no idea that you had such a negative perspective on the client and the customers so it makes sense why you would be so unhappy with the company. I also wish this could have been discovered during the interview process. We appreciate you taking the time to give the feedback. I'm sorry that you had a negative experience.
