High Staff Turnover is justified - Anonymous employee Tayntons Solicitors Employee Review

Pros

People on the team are lovely and opportunity for CPD training funds.

Cons

Upper management do not listen to the staff and there is a high staff turnover rate. The entire department was concerned about capacity levels with many clients not being contacted for weeks/months, and most of the team ended up leaving after a dispute around their legal rights (for example, carers losing their ability to hybrid work or WFH). Upper management claim that they do not expect you to work past 5pm, but due to concerns about the workload many staff could work until 10pm and still not get everything done. Requests for help were refused as upper management couldn't understand why we were struggling!

Pros

Tayntons is a well‑established firm with a strong reputation in the local community, and there is a genuine focus on providing a good service to clients. Colleagues are generally supportive and approachable, and there is a strong sense of teamwork within departments. The firm continues to invest in systems and processes, which has helped modernise ways of working and improve efficiency. Leadership is visible and engaged, and there has been a clear effort to communicate business direction and changes. There are opportunities to get involved in firm‑wide initiatives, and people who show commitment and professionalism are recognised and trusted with responsibility.

Cons

Like many law firms, workloads can be demanding at times, particularly during busy periods, and this can impact work‑life balance depending on role and department. Processes are still evolving in places, which can sometimes lead to change fatigue or inconsistency as new systems and ways of working are embedded. As the firm continues to grow, ensuring consistency across teams and managing capacity will remain important.

Pros

Most of the staff are lovely.

Cons

Toxic work environment. High turnover of staff. No support, no training, no career progression, no pay rises and no end of year bonus/profit share. They do not care about their staff. Avoid if you value your career and mental health.
