Pros

I’ve Just hit my five year anniversary and wanted to update how my experience with the company differs from when I first started. The beauty about Tapi is the family feel they still attempt to maintain (and achieve). When I first started I found my regional extremely approachable, friendly, happy to help, something I had not experienced much with a previous carpet employer. Naturally with company growth things will get a little ‘corporate’, and you expect it, and I’m happy to say my line management and regional are exactly the same as five years ago, approachable, more than happy to chat, nurture and guide, genuinely ask how you’re doing, and I know if I have an issue, a problem, or need anything, I CAN go to them without fear of reprimand, recrimination, or loss of my actual job. It’s this peace of mind and value I hold more dear than anything. I have seen Tapi grow, and been part of its success. I have grown my own patch and been allowed to advise and sell my own way, being supported by training and regular motivational updates and tips from line management, at store and regional level. I’m glad to have specific carpet people above me, who add their own knowledge and expertise to help me achieve and succeed. The company have provided us with proper training courses that actually improve my flooring knowledge, which then helps me advise my customers properly and helps to eradicate any issues that may potentially arise in future. They have also bought us the tools that we need to implement proper floor damp testing, at considerable expense. The incentives the company are offering now are amazing. I’ve just gotten a £500 virgin experience voucher for my five years service, early salary pay in December AND January to help with the festivities (a nice touch in January), a £50 voucher in my email to spend for Xmas, they’ve contributed to our stores Xmas party, and what really touched me was an actual handwritten card on my birthday with an Amazon voucher from the founder, Martin. That personal thought, although not expected at all, was an honest touch of class, something lacking with a previous major carpet employer. The future looks bright. Profit share scheme for next year is in full flow, and I have no doubt we will succeed, hit and smash targets and smash market share. I’m glad and proud to be part of the Tapi Journey. Onwards and upwards.

Cons

Sunday working, but that’s expected within the retail environment

Pros

Supportive colleagues and team members at the store level.

Cons

I found the operations management team difficult to approach and unwilling to listen to employee feedback. Interactions often felt like one-way conversations rather than constructive discussions, with little opportunity to share concerns or suggestions. Management appeared to be heavily focused on conversion metrics while overlooking the overall revenue being generated. Despite consistently achieving strong monthly revenue targets and maintaining the highest average transaction value on the team, these contributions were not properly recognized. The lack of communication, appreciation, and willingness to consider different perspectives created a frustrating and demotivating work environment.
