Pros

Some good coworkers, at one point had controlled patient ratios. any color scrubs, always overtime to be had.

Cons

Low pay for the work expected, acuity is way off; ICU/Step-down level patients in medsurg isn't right. racist family members, patients and staff (especially on day shift), but this is a given due to the location. favoritism when it came to making the patient assignments(rns would usually get the hardest workload and LPNs were babied in comparison. people would also come in early to cherry pick assignments leaving the harder pts for everyone else), dirty unit with trash overflowing and roaches, a lot of inexperienced staff due to high turn over and management only being able to hire new grads and LPNs, the list goes on.

Pros

The organization has a strong mission and serves an important role in the local community. Many employees are deeply committed to their work and care about doing the right thing for patients and colleagues. This can be a place to gain experience and build foundational skills for individuals early in their careers or those seeking stability.

Cons

Opportunities for professional growth and advancement are limited, particularly for employees who remain with the organization long term. Career pathways and promotion criteria were not always clear or applied consistently, which made advancement challenging. Leadership decision-making did not consistently incorporate input from internal subject-matter experts, which at times slowed progress and limited the effectiveness of improvement efforts. Accountability at higher levels of leadership appeared uneven, while expectations remained high for frontline and mid-level staff. Compensation was below market for several roles, including leadership positions, making retention difficult. HR processes related to hiring, compensation, and employee relations lacked transparency and consistency, which impacted trust and morale.
