Pros

Half-day Friday's (but even those come at a price). Most employees there are great, but they do hire more than their fair share of questionable characters.

Cons

Company has barely made any sales in the last few years- they will blame it on a "long sales cycle" and "transforming business model" but it's actually because senior leadership completely lacks business acumen and strategy. Company has downsized by more than 50% in last few years and has only about 25 employees left. All mid-level management has been fired/let go without back filling positions- most 'worker bees' report directly into President or CEO. Recently forfeited 1/3 of office space and moved everyone to tables in the same room as the call center. Extremely outdated sales/lead-gen tactic (I use the singular tense purposefully)- one and only form of generating leads is cold calling from a list (requires 150 calls/day no exceptions, no LinkedIn, no prospecting allowed). Turnover is 100%. Micromanagement (or nano-management as people call it around the office) is beyond anything I've ever seen- borderline harassment. If you are gone from your desk for more than 10 minutes they will look for you and question where you were, they will interrupt meetings to question why you're meeting and ask you to provide takeaways as proof, if you are even 10 minutes late to work you are required to make up the 10 minutes and put it on your calendar as "make-up time", and they will even stand behind you at your desk watching what you're doing. No training/onboarding or continuous improvement. Will try to skim you on commission any way they can, not to mention payout process takes over a year. Costly health benefits with high deductible, outdated vacation/sick day program (15 total), extremely poor 401k matching, do not believe in work from home. This is not a company that cares about their people. The writing is on the wall- TZA is a sinking ship.

Thank you for the feedback. In recent years TZA has migrated to a 100% remote work environment where our team members are empowered to manage their work-life balance while continuing to meet the job performance metrics they have defined and agreed to with their manager. Success for the team and team members is measured by outcomes not time spent in effort to achieve those outcomes. As a small company where everyone is dependent on each other for our shared success we do hold each other accountable for our performance. Those who thrive in an environment where expectations are clear, and success is rewarded this is a great place to work. Those who seek to “get by” will be better off working elsewhere.

Pros

I have worked at TZA for around 2 years now and I will say that it has been one of the best jobs that I have worked over the years. Unlike the other reviews that are posted here I have had nothing but good things to say about the management. All interactions that I have had with them have been great and they really work with you to help reach the goals that they set and to make sure that you have everything needed to be successful at your job. I have had jobs in the past where people other than your direct manager have no idea who you are and treat you like a number and I feel that with TZA the owners actually care about you and foster a relationship more like a family rather than just another employee. Starting off working here while they had transitioned to remote work was actually very easy. I felt that even though I was not given any in-person training they were able to provide me everything I needed to be successful at my position starting out. Since the company has gone remote they have started scheduling bi-yearly meetings with everyone in person to talk about the state of the company and allow new members of the team to meet everyone else. At this meeting the provide dinner and entertainment (Including taking us to a Cubs Game) that shows they value us as employees. In addition I feel like at these meetings they actually listen to any concerns that we have and work to make sure that the concerns are addressed. TZA is continuing to grow and new features to the software are being added all of the time which makes the work interesting and keeps the work from feeling monotonous which helps keep from feeling burnout. The goals that they set for my position are not crazy and the tools and help that they provide to reach those goals makes it easy to hit our targets.

Cons

I have not experienced any cons in the 2 years that I have been working here.

Pros

Honestly, the people outside of management are the only pros I can list.

Cons

This company is like the Titanic heading for an iceberg. The CEO knows what he is doing doesn't work, but he does it anyway. I guess that's what happens when your father in law gives you a company to run to which you have absolutely no qualifications. My time with TZA was absolute hell. We were expected to essentially cold call leads that were not qualified at all. It was almost like a telemarketing call center. We would call businesses who had no interest in our product whatsoever and be expected to close a sale. Oh yeah, back to the CEO. Evan Danner has only had one job in his whole life, TZA. He has no idea how to manage a company, even though he tells everyone he does. He degrades his employees so much to the point that they all quit or he fires you. And please do not listen to any of the positive reviews on here, he has his current employees put fake reviews up to make the company look better. If you are considering working at this company, I promise you will regret it. This company will probably be gone by next year due to their garbage culture and terrible sales.

TZA has been in business for 40 years and in our most recent history we have achieved double-digit increases in annual revenue. We attribute that success to a team culture of high-performance and transparency – which unfortunately is not for everyone. It is true our professional Account Executives are expected to prospect for new business in their territories, build pipelines and achieve their sales quota. The success of our Account Executives requires that they fully understand the market and our products’ value to be successful. Our salespeople are not just order takers, and TZA has never terminated a salesperson that was delivering value and achieving quota. It is unfortunate the culture of continuous improvement coaching and transparency at TZA did not align with your desired work environment. We wish you success in your future endeavors.
