Pros

The benefits of working for the government will always start and end with the health benefits and all the opportunities for random bonuses.

Cons

If there is a government shutdown and you live alone you are screwed. The rules with TSA are constantly changing so when you finally have a rhythm down for standard operating procedures they change them up. You are always expected to put work ahead of family and time off. Your sick leave is scrutinized constantly, normally you can use sick leave at your will because... You know... It's YOUR sick leave... Also TSA isn't even part of the GS scale like all other federal government employees so you are getting screwed on pay. Also if you are new to TSA you will with 90% certainty be put on 1st shift. That means time to get up for work around 2:30-3am to open the checkpoint at 4am.
