Where to start. When I started I was told this was a great and exciting role with lots of positive transformation happening. Lots of change is happening, but it isn't good. Developers doing the work are generally good and know what they are doing, but are totally hampered by project/senior management that have no clue how to run IT projects. The projects themselves are using legacy technology and there's no desire to modernize. Trying to suggest any improvement you might as well smash your head off the wall. The worst part is that any criticism of the existing processes will come back at you negatively, it is best to just keep your head down and fight the fires that go on. The whole modus operandi with this company is to do things as cheap as possible (this is why they are sacking London workers and replacing them with Belfast/offshore). Quality engineering practices are not really a consideration and it really does show in management's attitude
