Pros

1. If you are joining as a fresher, in training, you will learn the fundamentals of grammar, punctuation, and other necessities required for being a language editor. 2. You will receive production-floor training, which will help you in understanding the requirements of the customer you are working for. 3. I don't know about the current situation after the lockdown. But, while I was working, we used to get canteen food at negligible price.

Cons

1. Salary at 16k is very low for a fresher. Style editors who are named copyeditors get paid even lower (around 10k), which is not at all enough for a metropolitan city. 2. Only if you are interested in correcting research articles, do not join the publishing services industry. This will ruin your life in a long term. There are many competitors in this industry and thus your pay will remain low. Get a job in the IT industry, which will pay you INR 70,000 per month easily with three years of experience after shifting to another company. In publishing services industry like this, you will hardly get more than 30k with 3 years of experience even if you shift. There are only some competitors that will pay you a good sum but you will have to be ready to learn style editing. 3. A language editor should know all the copyediting style requirements. With only language editing, you won't earn much in a long run. 4. Only with experience, you will learn the extent of editing. Do not mind what your seniors or managers say. Most don't even possess enough skill and knowledge to perform developmental editing. A copyeditor does not need to do high level of editing because the manuscript is already an accepted one. Manuscripts are accepted only when they are of high quality, meaning they are almost free of major/logical errors. 5. They pay freelancers well but do not pay enough for the employees, saying you have company benefits. Believe me, you benefit nothing from the benefits they offer at this low salary. In short, I would advice freshers against joining not only this company but also any other company related to the publishing services industry. Even though, this industry brings foreign income to our country, the low pay and the stupid schooling they give are not worth it. Join the IT industry like how I joined. Don't waste your time by staying here. I have heard some employees staying in this company for like 15 years and get only INR 30,000 per month. Don't do this. Your time is worth more than this. With inflation, INR 30,000 per month is nothing in the upcoming 10 years. Get a real job. Not the ones like this
