Pros

The people that work here and the work we do is remarkable. Everyone is here because they genuinely care about the mission statement, they care about their coworkers and team, they care about the patients we serve, and they truly want the best for their team, patients and company. Because THIRA Health is a fairly small organization, you can really see the direct impact you have on it- both from small tasks and responsibilities carried out daily, to larger projects and/or policy creation that impacts THIRA both administratively and clinically. Knowing you're a part of something like this and knowing you're making a difference (whether direct or indirect) in the lives of the patients we serve and the organization is one of the most rewarding and satisfying parts about working here.

Cons

The flip side to working at a small, rapidly growing company is the change that occurs on a daily/weekly basis. If you are not one to 'roll with the punches' on things, you will have a difficult time keeping up and dealing with the constant change. For a lot of people, this aspect of THIRA can be difficult to cope with in a work environment. With being a new organization that grew aggressively fast, it can also be challenging to feel like there are constantly things to be done, addressed, created, implemented, problem solved, etc. Upside to this is every day at THIRA flies by and you look at the clock and wonder how it is already almost time to head home for the day-- much better than days seeming to drag on forever. Though, at times it can feel overwhelming to know there is always more to do and always more to work on. Knowing what projects and tasks to prioritize over others when they all seem highly important and critical can be frustrating/troubling for some.

Pros

NOTE: Mehri Moore is unfortunately no longer the CEO. Coworkers are great- that’s it.

Cons

When Thira was a freestanding entity, it was an incredible place to work. It was bought out by corporate, and it quickly went downhill. What used to be a warm, trusting, collegial environment has become one in which management smiles to your face and stabs you in the back as soon as you turn around. There are no clear expectations, management is uncaring and completely unresponsive to employee concern (despite the “open door” policy they so proudly and constantly announce), they underpay and overwork clinicians who are working with extremely high needs individuals. Patient care was once at the forefront - now it seems that the only thing that really matters is money (how much they can make for the company and how little they can pay their employees). If you interview here, ask them about their employee turnover. Ask what percentage of their employees have been hired in the last year, and what percentage has been there for more than two years.
