Pros
I work in the Marketing department for the corporate office. This is, hands down, the best job I have had. I feel extremely valued, get praised on a regular basis, and feel like my contributions make a difference. A large part of my happiness here has to do with my boss, the Marketing Director. He is very understanding that life happens. When I first started, my dog’s health was deteriorating, and my boss treated it the same as if it was a child; I was able to work from home more, take my dog to appointments, etc. He really made a difficult time easier. The perks of the job are nice, as well. I get a work from home day every week, we do team lunches, our schedules are flexible, and the best part is, no micromanagement. I am trusted and autonomous. If I’m late because of traffic, no one is watching the clock. If I need to work from home for a home repair one day, totally fine as well. Like I said, my boss is super understanding. Working for the Marketing department has been great. As for the company itself, it’s really cool. We’re a bit removed from Pittsburgh HQ, but we’re very involved. I worked in staffing before this job, but it was specific to IT, so getting to touch other industries has been a blessing and a (good) challenge – I have learned so much in my time here. Like I said, best job ever. 10/10 work-life balance.
Cons
As a large, profitable company, the only thing I could see improving would be the benefits. Healthcare is good but expensive. An open PTO policy would be awesome. Lastly, earlier 401(k) access and match would be stellar.
