Pros

Being a small telecom company has some advantages over legacy carriers because it is easier to get things done. There is less process and less hoops to jump through, although as time goes on and more issues arise the CEO has been placing more and more process in place. What makes this worse is he rarely consults management or employees when creating new process. The company pays fairly well and has good benefits. The benefits and 401K are probably the best thing the company has going for them. The company is nimble and can move quickly if needed.

Cons

The biggest con with this company is the CEO micro-managing everything. All of the upper management are terrified of him and manage based out of fear. The CEO has a VP of sales, Operations etc., however they are all scared to do anything that will upset him, so in essence they are puppets in the regime. The CEO is very emotional and neurotic and can explode quickly and often, changing process on the fly without consulting anyone. Whenever a problem of any sort arises, the CEO will take action. Often he is in a rage and will make emotional decisions without consulting employees or managers and puts in new rules that can be detrimental to customers, employees and process. If you are offered a management job with this company-Know that you are going to be a puppet. You will not be able to make decisions that you feel could help your organization without the fear of being berated by the CEO or losing your job. The CEO will use anger and intimidation to get what he wants and you will be in constant fear of losing your job or being verbally assaulted. The CEO openly admits that he hates sales professionals. If you are contemplating taking a sales position with this company know that it is a losing battle. The sales people always complained that the CEO micro-managed all of their deals and made it very difficult to sell. There are never any promotions and your pricing will be about 30% higher than the competition. He has also fired sales people that were performing because he disliked them without any notice or warnings. The CEO has fired employees that consistently hit their numbers or performance metrics simply because something they did made him mad or upset him, and be assured that if you are employed by this company at some point you will do something to upset him. There is absolutely no loyalty with this company. You can be a top performer and be doing a great job and still be fired if you do something to anger the CEO, which can be very easy to do. This is a very dysfunctional organization. Know that if you go there it will be extremely frustrating.

Pros

From greatness to deep descent toward failure. Some few remaining people try to hold what used to be a strong company together. The board is pretty decent and may be the only hope. Maybe they'll eventually reach out to the people that helped build the company to greatness that have since been eradicated. There's always hope until it shutters.

Cons

The CEO is NOT Greg Lowe. That's interesting that two CEOs have run the company since and nothing gets updated so they don't have to take responsibility. Greg Lowe presided over the most profitable years in the company history. The CEO has changed twice since and the slaughter of good people to bring in opportunists ruined the company. Several key people continue to work in terrible ways for their own benefit, and have destroyed trust. There is no open door, that leads to retaliation and removal, often upper management blatantly says awful things about good people. Gossip and blame, deflecting failure onto former employees or others that endure and suffer. Great strides have been completely undone and mass turnover has led to a culture of trying to hide or escape.
