Pros

- Straightforward hiring and exit process, contract terms are clear. - Free birthday cake for celebrants every month. - Free food monthly. - Regular team-building activities and parties. - SSS, Pag-IBIG, and PhilHealth contributions 50% covered by the company. - 13th month pay. - 5 sick leaves, 5 vacation leaves, and 10 additional paid leaves annually

Cons

- Work culture can feel intimidating and unapproachable, especially for introverted employees. - Gossip and negative talk about the company and its people are common, which can be mentally draining over time. - Employment contract includes a ₱45,000 training bond that must be repaid if the employee leaves before the contract ends. - Non-compete clause restricts the use of skills for outside independent projects while employed, which may feel limiting for some. - Salary growth is modest; starting pay may be acceptable for fresh graduates, but it remains below industry averages as responsibilities increase. - Leadership does not consistently project strong self-discipline, particularly in areas of personal conduct and professionalism, which can affect how employees perceive their authority. Problems are sometimes publicly addressed to set an example, though names are not disclosed. While this can send a clear message, the delivery often feels abrupt, moving quickly from problem to blame to rule, without the measured tone and gradual build-up that can command respect and foster understanding. On occasion, disagreements involving leadership have been visible or audible to staff, which can feel demoralizing and intimidating, and over time may reduce respect for the position.

Pros

I gained exposure to real-world marketing projects with meaningful responsibilities, and the supervisors were always supportive and approachable, providing helpful guidance. The work environment was friendly and collaborative, with plenty of opportunities to apply creativity in tasks and campaigns. I also developed valuable hands-on experience in social media management that I can carry forward in my career. Most importantly, I was able to gain a wealth of knowledge because, during the internship period, management included us in the same training programs that regular employees attended—complete with certificates. These trainings, which can be costly outside, were provided entirely free of charge at Syntactics, making them a valuable part of the experience. After the internship, there is a strong chance of being hired if they see your potential, or you can easily secure a role with other companies because the program truly molds you into someone who understands real-world scenarios—bridging the gap between the theories taught in school and their application in practice. The location is also a big plus for me, as there are three carinderias nearby and it’s very easy to commute anywhere in CDO due to its accessible location. Overall, joining this internship was the best decision I’ve ever made for my career.

Cons

You can’t be late, so the internship really trains you to behave like a professional from day one—which is a challenge at first, but becomes a great habit. You might also gain a little weight because there’s always free merienda, pizza, cakes, ice cream—you name it. You’ll never break a sweat because the air-conditioning works so well (which can be both a pro and a con!). After the internship, you might find yourself starting to love jogging or enrolling in a sport, because the team enjoys badminton and volleyball after work—HR even books the court for free from time to time for everyone who loves to play.
