Pros

Couldn't find one Pro to mention here.

Cons

Never believed till the time I observed, the company openly promoting moonlighting, there are cases where some of the employees (at a very senior level) work from home who used to work before covid from the office just because the reason their residence, not the city, while we applied for a single day work from home it goes through multi-level approval and it gets approved with a lot of caveats. • Despite the company circular from the head office (USA) mentioning the employee can only work from the list of countries, some employee/s being relatives of one of the top management employees get an exception and are allowed to work from the country not listed in the circular. • Moonlighting is not restricted to onboard employees, even contractors hired for some projects are also in active employment with other companies, still s/he would be onboarded and asked to be a part of a project. • The office is just like a garden, employees can punch in or punch out at any time, just one has to come three days a week, this has also started recently when all the local employees have started to come to the office. • Even if some employee is fully billable through a PO from one company, s/he is asked to work on multiple projects and asked to visit on-site to another client while still being billable to the project for s/he has received PO. As if all other employees (peers) are incompetent. • A couple of employees who joined the company having considerable experience from the likes of TCS, IBM, etc, couldn’t complete their probation period, because of the culture of “my way or the highway”. One of them tried to bring a lot of changes to uplift all the employees' knowledge and tried to bring some initiative which would have helped all the employees, but abruptly resigned and left. No one knows what happened. All their efforts and concerns were throttled in a way, that they didn’t reach the head office. • There have been a couple of such cases. No employees who worked with the tech giants and joined the company (so far) have been able to sustain long. • Only selected employees are chosen to work on any project (chosen by so-called seniors) and others must sit idle and are continuously pressured to do R&D. When it comes to increment, a minimal percentage is given citing you have a lot to learn. • No support is extended when one is stuck and being asked not to consult peers and identify the issue on own then why is there a need for a senior (so-called)?

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take all employee feedback seriously and have noted your concerns. As an organization, we are committed to employees working alongside each other in our offices where possible, and we have repeatedly communicated the expectations of those who are assigned to an office location. At the same time, we recognize that the need for different work location arrangements may arise from time to time based on business needs or individual circumstances. When location exceptions are made, it is done only after review and approval by leadership. Regarding your concern about moonlighting, our policies on other employment state that while employed by Synoptek, employees are expected to devote their time and energy to their jobs within the Company. Employees may not conduct business for another employer during their scheduled working hours. Further, any employment that directly conflicts with the Company’s essential business interest and disrupts business operations is prohibited. To deliver successful outcomes for our customers, we know that we must remain agile – this includes how we organize work and how we resource projects. Our teams are structured with talent that brings varying levels of work experience to Synoptek so that we can create opportunities for everyone to learn and grow. In fact, ample opportunities to learn, job shadow, knowledge share, and contribute across projects is often mentioned as an aspect that employees appreciate about our work environment. In addition to leveraging our experts and growing internal talent, we partner with contractors who may bring further specialized skills to help us meet customer needs. Their niche skills may not always be needed on a full-time basis, in which case the contractor may choose to engage with other companies to achieve a full workload. Finally, while all companies experience some degree of turnover, we are proud to have experienced low turnover year over year. We believe that our approach to talent and continuous learning leads to a culture that individuals are proud to be part of. Thank you again for your feedback. Should you wish to further discuss your concerns, we encourage you to reach out to your manager or to our HR team.

Pros

The people are some of the best and like family. We care a lot about our teams and our customers. There are good leaders here but it has just become too hard for us to lead the way they want to.

Cons

Executive Leadership, especially the CEO. The culture has changed a lot since he replaced the former CEO. He does not operate with the same values that have been a part of the company ever since I got here. He rules by fear, control, micromanagement, and is unapproachable. You can see it in meetings with the business and even in our Company meetings. It is uncomfortable. He has started only bringing people in from his former network and they are bringing in their friends. Everything is India focused and North America people are losing their jobs and those that are left are burned out from the excessive workload. We are watching good employees leave either on their own or because they are forced out. The optics of who is leaving and why are not good. I want this to work but it feels like a sinking ship at this point. Our customers aren't even happy with us anymore and that makes our jobs even harder.
