Pros

The people ARE very welcoming and personable.

Cons

When employed with this company, you are working from 9:30 in the morning until about 7:30 at night, which sounds fine, but with a huge downside: it's 100% commission after training. Also, for full time work it offers no health benefits, no paid vacation time or sick leave. You also get to drive all over the the state and are not compensated for gas. A lot of deception in dealing with clients. It's like a pyramid scheme and I really don't understand how it's legal. So I left and found myself a position with a company that pays quite well by the hour plus commission and full benefits. Don't waste your time. There is much better out there.

We are confused regarding your comment about our wages being pure commission and lack of benefits. During your hiring paperwork, you filled out a W-4 form and not a 1099 form. So if you truly did come into our company and start with us, you would know that NONE of our employees function on 100% commission, even after paid training is over. Also, we most definitely offer benefits after 90 days so if you did not receive anything with our company, unfortunately we can only assume you were with us for less than that time otherwise you would have been offered a benefits package. As for driving to locations, we never require entry levels to use their own vehicles or money on traveling. Our Senior and Corporate Trainers provide safe and reliable transportation daily to our destinations. We also pay our employees for any travel time they do incur and we constantly provide bonuses and incentives. Also, if any of our employees request to be in a certain area, we almost always honor their request. We are also confused by your use of pyramid schemes since we have never taken money or payments from our employees. We provide a marketing platform where we work with Fortune 500 companies and we highly doubt that these large established corporations would do business with anyone who are unethical, multi-leveling or fit into the category of "illegal pyramid schemes". We also NEVER tell or teach our employees to deceive or mislead our clients/customers so if you know of specific situations that have occurred within the company, it is important for you to contact me at giangpdoan@gmail.com or call our office at 651-444-8819 to discuss your comment in further detail. Lastly, congratulations on your new job and we wish you the very best. We are looking for hard working, dedicated and strong employees that want a merit based opportunity to advance without a glass ceiling in their future. It sounds like you did not fit the type of employee our company is looking for but we do appreciate the time you dedicated with us. We hope you are happier with your new position and we hope it suits your lifestyle's wants and needs more comfortably.

Pros

Not everyone that worked there is heartless but the manager is very heartless, you can see it through his eyes, no soul.

Cons

-The worst place to work, do not waste your time. You can find a better job then walking around in Walmart convincing people they should Direct TV. -The training was horrible: Manager wants you out there the first day after paperwork and your in the field/jungle expected to talk with people but you don't know about the products. So you sit there and look stupid. -Manager is very condescending when he talks to you or when he tries to help you. It's like he's your father talking to a little kid. -I worked for a short time and could not work anymore, I was not paid for the time I spent in the field with no training.

Hello! Your review of us seems very emotionally driven and we wish we could address these issues with you on a more personal level. Please email us at hr@smgminneapolis.com or call our office phone, our HR department managers are prepared to speak with you in depth regarding your experience with the anonymous manager you critique. We intentionally affiliate with big box retailers due to massive opportunities for public-relations exposure for our clients. Therefore, our marketing platform selections are invaluable to our clients and are deliberately chosen for optimum growth. For our hiring process, we are candid about the platform we choose to connect with our customers as well as the type of venues we prefer to operate our promotional marketing. It is regrettable you did not enjoy employment with us however, our staff have never thought of their work as a waste of time in any capacity. Your impression that our company utilizes unsuspecting individuals to conduct forceful sales and that our industry as a whole is scorned is something we disagree on. We are not looking for just any random candidate to work with us, we expect qualities such as leadership, innovation, consistency, and team empowerment from all of our managers. We are aware that we set higher standards than most companies because we are unwilling to sacrifice high quality performance for higher volume profit. Neither SMG nor our management team have ever accepted currency from employees and they never mistreat/abuse in any manner. We also compensate everyone for work completed. To hear you claim that you never received payment from us is troubling and this is the first time receiving this type of information. Please contact our HR Dept. so we can pull up employee records and documentation to sort this issue out. As a company, we never pretended to be anything other than a marketing and sales firm which strives to meet the expectations of our clients and provide revolutionary growth opportunity for our employees. We are the leading performance-driven marketing firm in Minnesota so it is understandable how some personalities at times are highly passionate and can rub people the wrong way. However, arrogance and condescension are never attitudes we tolerate. We appreciate the time you dedicated to us while worked with SMG. We truly wish you the best for your next step and hope you learned invaluable interpersonal communication skills from our company to take through life.
