Pros

There are some nice people that work here.

Cons

By far the worst start-up company ever.  Working at Synapse is like a lost ball in high weeds. It really wants to be a tech company, but it's got a long way to go.  The Leadership team doesn't know their head from their tail. Don't get me wrong, most of the people are nice. There are a few people who are socially awkward and hard to have conversations with due to their lack of personality.  However, nice people don't always make business-savvy people.  Synapse leadership is one big clique. One of my biggest pet peeves is the late-night unofficial meetings between the clique leaders.  They talk amongst themselves and expect you to know what was discussed, changed, and decided upon via osmosis.  If you're working on a project, your responsibilities will change without you even knowing it, but you will still be held accountable for whatever was discussed and/or changed.  I've experienced this firsthand many times.   I would take my concerns to HR, but HR is a huge part of the problem at Synapse.  HR is one of the ring leaders in this three-ring circus. Synapse HR protects certain employees (no matter how BIG the mistake), and they leave others out to dry.  I have receipts for those mistakes, but I'll keep it close to the chest until I need to show proof.  Remember folks, HR is never your friend! BTW...it's going to take more than just a Starbucks card to create a good culture here.   Speaking of culture, why is not evolving?  Makes one really wonder how dedicated Synape is to "culture".  If you decide to accept a position here, make sure you read your offer letter. You might even want an attorney to review it because what I was told was not the same as listed in my offer letter.  Classic case of a bait and switch.   Work/life balance is a joke.  My manager emails AND texts me on weekends which is so annoying.   I don't get paid enough to answer emails and texts on the weekend.  I actually have a life OUTSIDE of Synapse.  Even with the move to the new building, it's still not that great.  Needless to say, I'm just buying my time until the economy gets better and better jobs open up at other companies.  For now, I'll do my job and collect my check.

Pros

Excellent work-life balance with flexibility to maintain a healthy personal and professional life. Competitive benefits and pay. Fully remote work provides convenience and eliminates commute. Upper management keeps employees informed about company updates and changes. Synapse values employee growth and frequently promotes from within.

Cons

None that I've experienced during my time with this company.

Pros

*What stands out most is the sense of purpose behind the work. It's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture in a lot of jobs, but here you can clearly connect what you're doing day-to-day to the impact it has on patients. *There's also real room to make a difference through continuous process improvement; if you see something that could work better, you're given the space to actually fix it rather than just flag it. *Many roles are remote too, so there's a good amount of flexibility in how and where you work.

Cons

The pace moves fast, and because the Synapse is growing, processes are often being built, and then rebuilt, as things evolve. It's not a bad thing, but if you don't handle change well or prefer a lot of established structure, this could be frustrating.
