Pros
Union Employer , Great pay, Great benefits. Lots of Great Technical Training and certifications. Work is usually well managed and jobs are mostly within a few hours of Home.
Cons
Over managed, 2 to 3 mangers on each job. Some of them are Great others will never Evendors be good. It's not what you know, but who you know. There are no longer any Foreman bonuses, as they have been taken by the Management for their own bonuses. In addition some jobs that should pay Union Subsistence benefits as defined by contract as well as being bid into the job for having to bare the expense of living and working out of town sometimes are not given, again so the managers can make the job more ptofitable and put it towards their own bonuses... not right to make your bonus at the expense of the workers rightful benefits... and do it because you know a guy has to work for his family so in some cases he won't argue because he can't afford to lose the work even though he knows he should get that benefit to help cover the expense of working and living away from home. It's not always the case, but some of the poorer leaders take advantage and exploit this scenario for their own greed and gain, while their own expenses are covered and paid for of course. I
