Pros

1. Reinsurance industry offers a lot to learn. 2. Cafeteria food is good.

Cons

1. Fearful environment in teams. Employees feel threatened by managers but are afraid to report it for the fear of their jobs. 2. Unit heads are completely unaware of this as there is no skip-level interaction at all. 3. Feedback is not well received by managers and they threaten people that careers will be ruined if we disagree with what they say. 4. There is no way to communicate our feedback about our managers without the manager knowing about it. We have been told that even the 'anonymous' surveys results can be traced back to the employee. 5. During induction, you are told about great policies such as 'Own The Way You Work', etc. But managers do not let you work from home or be flexible with work timings. 6. Salary is much lower than industry peers. 7. During annual pay hikes, only the fixed component is revised. The variable component (TAPI) remains the same for around 4-5 years irrespective of your performance. It feels like we are trapped with the manager and cannot raise our voice to anyone. The overall work environment is suffocating and demoralising. I would not recommend this firm to anyone.

Swiss Re remains committed to maintaining a positive working environment free of harassment. We hold staff directly accountable for their action, and in some cases, inaction. As a matter of policy, we thoroughly investigate every report or concern over behavior brought to our attention. We take pride in our diverse and inclusive culture and welcome the opportunity to clarify, and if necessary, act upon your concerns. It’s great to hear that the supportive environment and people‑focused culture resonated with you during your time at Swiss Re. We recognize that larger organizations can naturally move a bit slower, we’re continually working to make processes smoother for our employees. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

Pros

1. 12% 401k match 2. Amazing co workers in the trenches but this is rapidly changing as people look for the exits.

Cons

1. Management - the new management team has a maximum personal bonus / profit only mindset. Cost cutting reigns. 2. Constant layoffs. No job is safe. 3. Company has offshored many jobs to India and is in a race to move key underwritering, engineering, claims functions to India as well. Overall, it feels more like a private equity gut job than a publicly traded company.
