Swipey is a 15 man team and a flat organisation. As a CEO, i sit side by side with all 15 and encourage direct conversation and feedback. We run an anonymous 360 review for everybody [including me], yearly and I sit with team members monthly to understand growth needs.
We in fact discourage personal DMs as there is nothing I say to 1 team member is not applicable to everyone else.
Despite all these, as a for profit start up, if growth is measured by titles and number of people reporting to you, then Swipey is not the place. If you want to learn, own a space, build and satisfy your own desire to grow, then Swipey is the place. There are occasion when the next stage of growth for an individual is managing people. In those occasion, if there are no open roles, we then encourage employees to take the leap in the next part of their growth journey outside the organisation or wait till we grow the team again. As time of writing, we have 8 roles open meaning the dynamic of the 15 man team is changing.
Team members who have done well also get company shares issued to them, and many of the employees are shareholders at Swipey.
Also as a small, multicultural team, we have a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and lain-lain. We cant afford to have a big part of the team to take holiday at the same time if we can avoid it. If you are Hindu, and applied for AL during Raya, whilst 4/15 other Muslim team members have as well, then we do prioritise in approving holidays accordingly, especially you are part of the same functional team. It is not fair, but it is the right thing to do.
In terms of hybrid working model, Swipey practices 3 days at office, and 2 WFH. This has been in practice since we setup shop. No changes to this have been made. We do not practice clock in/out and do not track your time off/holidays. We know you are professional and would do what is right. However, if you end up breaching trust, your are likely to have additional oversight.
Your feedback is taken and in the intensity of execution, we might be slow in other areas. Will intensify people skills for everyone including for myself
