Pros

Nothing at all is positive about this company

Cons

If the Titanic hit an iceberg and slowly sank, Surface Shields hit a dozen icebergs and is capsizing fast, really fast. If you are looking to join a fast sinking ship Surface Shields is the place for you. Leadership is a complete disaster and offers no direction probably because they don't know what to do themselves. The company has a terrible toxic culture that creates an environment of employees who are miserable in their day to day work. The only reason employees appear to stay is the ESOP retirement program offered by Garland. If you are looking for a happy positive work place that has a strong growing future find somewhere else to work. You'll probably be happier at your local McDonalds making fries or flipping burgers, and have more upside career growth opportunities. Plus the perks of an occasional free Happy Meal! If you are just looking to collect a pay check and don't care about future growth or being happy, Surface Shields is probably a good fit. There appears to be a lot of employee turnover which should be a red flag to anyone looking for a good place to work. Happy employees surrounded by strong culture don't leave! Seems most of the talented employees leave the company moving onto bigger, brighter futures. There are probably not many more companies that could be more poorly managed than this one! They might be up there with Enron, Sears/K-Mart, Toys R Us, Kodak. Is that the type of company you want to be a part of?

Pros

ESOP! Team-Oriented Leadership - I feel like a valued part of a team. Good solid product lines. Overall it's the talented employees who work together that make Garland Surface Protection a great place to work.

Cons

It feels like there's not enough hours in the day to accomplish all that needs to be done. This could be alleviated with more people (so I encourage you... come to Garland)!
