Pros
The only pro is the employee discount however the electronic discount is now only 40% on 2 items twice a year. Original incentive was a 40% discount every month on an electric appliance.
Cons
The hours are terrible, no set schedule late nights and early mornings are the norm. As the assistant you're basically doing all the grunt work for the Resident Chef. Over worked and under paid is the mantra for Sur La Table. Hired low hourly rate and very difficult to get a raise once you have time in position. The ask over the summer is far to great for the actual pay salary or hourly. Work long hours with no mandatory breaks yet your expected to clock in and out and still work over your break to get the job done.
