Pros

Small company with some truly fantastic individuals

Cons

Good christ I don't even know where to start. Apart from the CEO being a tone-deaf sociopathic I-went-to-Harvard-so-I'm-very-smart joke of a leader, the company has and has continued to have troubling internal issues that ultimately lead to an extremely frustrating work environment. The CEO can't figure out how to let anyone do their job without constantly jamming his hands into the pot while adding absolutely nothing of value to the conversation, and the overall product has been less than impressive as time has gone on. For as long as Suplari has been in operation, the lack of actual value delivery is almost impressive. I do not think this is entirely reflective of the individuals working behind the scenes to make the product a reality, however it is deeply telling of the gross levels of incompetence on the part of upper management and the downright delusion that gets in the way of realistic operations and expectations. Too many pointless, time-wasting meetings, to say the least. There is an eye-rolling level of touting how "transparent" things are when the reality is, that isn't the case. In my time there, I saw high turnover, a ratchet Sales cycle with inconsistent and harmful leadership, layoffs that seem absolutely insane, and a vision that is clouded by the cataract-levels of dysfunction and ego. Startups can come with a large dose of crazy, but I'd say the biggest problem with this company is the fact that the top leadership is brazenly deaf on more levels than I can begin to count, and ultimately, bad leadership will sink even the best products. But that at least requires requires having a product.

Pros

- A fast-paced atmosphere and a smaller team means more opportunity to take on new projects and make significant contributions. A good place if you're self-motivated and can engage creatively in work even when there may not always be clear guidelines. - There are many talented individuals with a shared sense of dedication to the company's success. - Decent work/life balance, and I've felt the company overall tries to take good care of it's employees. They have stepped it up a bit during the pandemic as well to try and make WFH more a little more comfortable/balanced. - The engineering team does not shy away from using the latest tech and finding ways to innovate.

Cons

A smaller team means fewer higher-level talent to learn from (at least until the company grows larger).

Pros

The people make the experience and my former colleagues are some of my favorite people I've worked with in my career. It was a true pleasure working with them everyday. The atmosphere has a good amount of levity. The founders at Suplari have an amazing track record and which is reflected in Suplari's current success. Learning directly from Niki, Jeff and Brian helped me in the founding my own venture. Exposure to board members and the investors is a great benefit to those who are entrepreneurial . Team lunches with a VC was a regular experience. Drop ins by board and investors was also the normal; many of which know the employees by name. Direct customer interaction is also a critical part of the experience at Suplari. Being on sales calls, meeting with prospective customers and regular customer feedback meetings are open to all employees. Ability to influence the product and the company are plentiful.

Cons

They pay competitive salaries for early stage venture backed startups, which in Seattle is less than a tech giant. Startups come with a lot of uncertainty and require adaptability, this isn't for everyone. Long hours, nights and weekends are part of the deal, as you might expect at a startup, however their generous work from home policy made this much nicer, along with unlimited vacation.
