Pros
Pay was fairly ok since it was $1.25 more than minimum because of a night shift pay differential. Night shift was always fairly quiet and we were allowed to listen to music as long as we were being productive, so not all was bad.
Cons
Constantly Short-Staffed and covered another department for around a month. Our compensation was a $10 in-store gift card, and a sign in the back room saying thanks. Manager constantly changed schedules from week to week. The departments were given a budget for all expenditures including department employee's pay. If the cost for the stock was too high of a percentage of the available "budget" then employee's hours were cut. Upper management was acceptable, but lower management needed a good replacement when I left. When I quit, it was because my hours had been cut to 24 to 32 hours a week instead of 40. The shift lead was always passing the buck for everything and never accepted responsibility for anything that went wrong. There were also multiple unsafe practices including the manager telling a coworker to stand on an upside down milk crate instead of a step-stool to reach a higher shelf, and being told to lean into a cardboard baler that was not LOTO (Locked Out Tagged Out) to unjam the bale.
