Pros

The only good thing that came out of working here was meeting a group of fantastic and bright folks, where we often shared our lamentations together over meals.

Cons

1. Zero culture - no joke. They do have an office cat though, which they took in because the cat roamed in one day and never left. I wonder if they are still overfeeding that cat. 2. May ask you to cancel your PTO - even if PTO was approved, and the company decided to go to a convention, which landed at the same time as the PTO, they will ask for the PTO to be canceled in order for more work to be done at the convention. 3. No diversity or inclusion at all - this is a Chinese company, therefore, if you are fluent in Mandarin, you will be highly revered. If you do not know the language, despite being other types of Asian, you will be excluded and feel the exclusion as well. They honestly just want Chinese hires. I have never seen a non-Asian in that workplace during my time. Also, the headquarters in China regard everyone working in the United States as incompetent. 4. Fake reviews - they will do anything to change that 1-star into a 5-star review by bribing customers and offering them gift cards or a refund for a 5-star review. This catastrophic issue was recently brought into public eye in June 2021. 5. Pay - low compared to industry standards. No bonuses. No raises. NO OVERTIME PAY. 6. Insurance - worst benefits I've seen. Usually with PPO and HMO, there's a few options and tiers. For HMO, there is just one. One option to choose from, therefore making the employee switch out of their usual medical network. 7. Faulty products - a battery exploded inside one of their products, resulting in a warehouse fire (right behind where we work), where the sprinklers came on and did their work. This caused the boxes to be soggy and destroyed, and our carpets smelled like mold. The Fire Department literally had to force the company to abide by the rules to ensure fire safety, by telling the company they will be fined if they don't comply. So employee safety is definitely last on their list. Oh, and since the boxes were deformed and cannot be shipped out to customers, they said we can buy the products from them from 25 cents to $10. Even at that price, major pass for me. I don't want things exploding in my home. Oh yeah, the bath bombs they were trying to get rid of and sell to us were already expired by a year. 8. Workaholics - no work/life balance at all. You are required to be at your desk at all times, and work from 9-6. We couldn't take much breaks, or even lightly chat with each other for a break. If you stayed past 6, you will be regarded as an amazing and hardworking individual. 9. Wear too many hats - even if it's totally opposite of your expertise. Sure, sometimes we pick up a couple tasks and help each other out. However, asking employees to travel around the bay area hauling products and trying to sell products door to door, is definitely out of my role and expertise. I am not a product salesman (they couldn't find anyone to fill that role), nor did I get training ever to be a salesman. 10. Be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays. With headquarters in China, expect super late night texts and calls.

I am so sorry your time at our company was not the greatest. There are several items you post here that have me concerned and therefore I will be looking into it immediately. There are also a few things that we are in the process of changing - the healthcare options, some additional benefits. I am disturbed by the no overtime pay and will also look into this. Many companies are owned by overseas headquarters and there has to be some give and take. We are working on that with our HQ counterparts with some push back and understanding. I hope our new leadership can work to make some of these changes and I know HR is working to make this a great place to work. I hope you see the changes some day.

Pros

Flexible working environment, work and life balanced. The company does not force you to go back to the office after Covid and they are very flexible about where you work. No clock in nor clock out. If you have meetings in the evening, management will tell you to start late in the following morning. Work pressure is manageable. We have a very talented team and the CEO is nice and open to suggestions.

Cons

From time to time, you'll need to work in the evenings to communicate with HQ team.
