Pros

People and co workers are generally pretty nice. It’s a sales/commission + hours circumstance so there are always a few cut throat sales people as in any dealership but it’s generally to a minimum. You just have to watch your back a bit. More or less the sales floor is light hearted and fun to work. Sales managers and GSM are awesome and supportive.

Cons

Pay plan is weak and hard to reach your commission tiers. You need to reach 5 sales PER WEEK to see a decent pay check. It’s hard enough to hit that and When It’s slow that’s nearly impossible particularly when you have to many sales people in the floor.

Pros

Fellow technicians are all nice and look out for each other

Cons

At Kearny Mesa Hyundai, management only cares about profit and looking good to customers and HMA corporate arm, at expense of its technicians, who are greeted with low starting wages and an unrealistic efficiency rating system that sets them up for failure from the start, basically eliminating any chances of growth within the company. Entry-level technicians are required to do work they are not properly trained or certified to do, including sensitive repairs that could potentially cause thousands of dollars in damages, also requiring the use of high-dollar Special Service Tools that are not provided and, being paid less than a fast-food worker who just got their first job, they're simply impossible to afford. During most of the afternoon time, the same entry-level techs must endure direct exposure to sun light and eventual rainfall. It's a humiliating and demoralizing work environment at best. But they offer employee discounts at Maderas golf club...
