Pros

Great technology, smart people, one of very few innovative solar manufacturing companies left, compared to the many chinese commodity product suppliers. Financially stable, due to parent company Total.

Cons

As the solar market has become more volatile and tougher to succeed, SunPower has come to be viewed as a safe haven. This unfortunately means that more and more politicised people are joining, seeing the company as a nice place to hide. Lots of new VPs and Directors over the last 2 years....no interest in putting the company first, it's all about them keeping their job and boosting their profile. Unfortunately, this approach is endorsed/supported by the execs who seem scared to hire any senior managers who would challenge them for the benefit of the company. Oh, and the work hours are very long - often due to having to manage global timezones.

Pros

The people at SunPower/BlueRaven were some of the funnest people to work with. I built a lot of great relationships there.

Cons

When SunPower was purchased by TJ Rodgers, he came in and was telling everyone how he was going to turn the whole company around and that "because he's a billionaire he knows how to make it happen" -- Well.. over the span of about a year he laid off about 70% of the company and tried to make other independent contractors so he didnt have to give them a base. The whole company dynamic changed and I now have yet to speak to any former colleagues who enjoyed being there. - Its very toxic now.
