Pros
If you earn your place to be one of the tour guides- the camaraderie you develop with your co-workers (especially the smacktalking) will deepen your work ethic and ability to walk the razors edge during each atv/dunebuggy tour you lead. It's sink our swim though. During my 2 years at Sunbuggy you would see a bunch of newbies, on any given weekend, only for them to washout the same day due to heat exhaustion or just not wanting to work in 100+degree weather. Separates the men from the boys. Pros include being the subject of conversation and envy during your girlfriend's partys with all of her friends with pointless questions like, "what's it like to ride utv's for a living, what's the craziest crash you've seen etc." Having your girlfriend seeing her friends want to share you while all the other boyfriends hate you cuz they ain't you is priceless and will earn points with her later. Trust me. Oh and the pay is pretty good too.
Cons
Everything breaks. Literally. Its not a knock on the maintenance of the equipment its just the nature of the beast. So when a wheel falls off mid tour, axle snaps, torque belt gets shredded guess who's pushing it back on the truck? Yup-you. Also, the daily, early morning unloading of atv's and dunebuggies from a double decker vehicle trailer is always entertaining and educating in acceptable risk. If you think I exaggerate just imagine 5 or 6 guys, hungover/half asleep, backing atv's off a 12ft 45 degree ramp at the same time. I enjoy adrenaline as much as the next nut but this job pushes this to new heights. The weather. Exhausting and unrelenting. During the summer temperatures reach 121 degrees fahrenheit. Next try lifting heavy weights in the sun by carrying tires, pushing broken buggys, fixing atv tires, all while trying to teach your tour group how not to kill themselves during their tour. Same during the winter only it is cold and windy. Getting sandblasted while leading a tour in a wind storm is always a joy to experience. If it rains guess who's playing in the mud. Sounds fun but mud is extremely chaffing. Trust me.
