Pros

The last review was completed last summer. It was rightfully positive, but I feel it is important to update. There is no need to add to the pros over what has already been shared. Unfortunately, most of the changes have been for the worse. I hope Summit can recover, but there is a lot of work to be done.

Cons

Summit is a small company, and when a member of management leaves, the impact is felt. In 2017 there were four managers who left the firm. Three were minority females. In the last six months, several additional leaders and over half the PhD level staff have left. Budgets are tight and there doesn't appear to be new work. Particularly troubling to me is that four out of eight African Americans have exited, including the only two with doctorate degrees. We are (supposedly) an advanced analytics firm with a diverse workforce, so this evolution is troubling. The firm needs to make serious changes and to do some deep soul searching to get back on track.

Summit Consulting Response

We want to thank you for your candid response. Your ongoing feedback is important to us, and crucial for Summit's sustained growth. You're right, it has been a tough quarter. Market forces have made growth difficult. And that's hard when you've been a part of a fast growing firm. We are making staffing, business development and internal policy changes to respond to changing conditions. We hope that our all-hands staff meeting this week allayed many of your concerns. Regarding recent departures, we too are sad to see some of our favorite Summiteers move on. We are so impressed with where our people are going, the important work they're doing, the impressive skills they're learning and experiences they are having. Our Summit "alumni" network is strong, as evidenced by the fact that many former employees "crash" firm happy hours and even our holiday party! We continue to be committed to diversity at all phases of the professional development cycle, from recruiting through partnership. I would encourage you to continue to share your feedback with any of our leaders. We are lucky to count you as a colleague.
