Pros

- Most team members are good people - reasonably caring, patient, and invested in team members's growth and success. - Pay is reasonable, but may be lower than the competition depending on location. - Working from home is great if you have the right personality for it. - Hours are fairly reasonable.

Cons

- The interview process was very convoluted and disorganized. Important information like salary, benefits, 401(k), vacation, etc was withheld until the very end. - Most people are supportive, but those that aren't have a pronounced negative impact on the experience there. - There was no opportunity to provide feedback to superiors or to change your relationship with them outside of just "getting back on their good side". - Pay could be much lower than the competition depending on location. Their pay is based on NATIONAL (not regional) averages for senior accountants in the US - if you live in a popular area or a bigger city, you'll most likely take a pay cut to work here. - Working from home can be boring and lonely if you don't have the right mindset for it. - There is a 90-day "introductory period" where they evaluate you every 2 weeks. You do not accrue benefits, vacation or retirement contributions during this time. If they decide you're not the right fit for the company, you will be unemployed at the end of the 90 days with 0 notice. - They don't truly pay for health insurance, only a portion of the premium. This could result in around $2,400+ in additional expenses for you. - There were almost daily issues with their technology, which was a significant & frusturating hurdle since the position is entirely remote and technology-driven. - Their employment contract is very stringent. For example, you have to agree to give Summit full ownership over everything you create while you're employed with them (side hustles, entrepreneurial ventures, and hobbies included).

Pros

Summit CPA does a lot of things right! It all starts with the people. Summit is a true team environment. If you are willing to knock (virtually) on some doors you will always find an answer to your question. In addition, Summit's business is always changing because the owners are willing to listen to the team and react quickly to any changes that are needed. This is my favorite thing about the ownership at Summit. Even if you just started 2 weeks ago, your ideas will be heard and lead to some amazing discussions! I also believe the work is the most rewarding type of work you can do as an Accountant. Everyday you feel like you are making a difference in the clients business! You can't do a review of Summit without talking about the flexibility. What flexibility means at Summit is the ability to enjoy my life outside of work. We do work hard and there are some long days, but if I am smart I can always make my outside commitments work.

Cons

The only con for me is the cost of insurance that is passed on to the employee. It isn't high for similar size companies, but if you come from a larger business it takes a little getting used to.
