Pros

Non. It was first time employment and first introduction to working part time. This is the Whiston branch and the rest of the franchise is in Warrington. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!

Cons

Lack of training and development. No support from the branch Manager who thinks that leading the team means to get angry and blame everyone else. Manager does not know how to manage effectively and can’t plan at all. Poor planning and poor communication causing low morale in the Whiston branch in Merseyside. The owners of the franchise don’t care how the managers work and can’t see that all the recruitment and retention problems are down to bad manager. Asking for holidays is seen as an inconvenience and the manager is lazy and makes bad judgement of when she should be supporting her team.

Pros

Very flexible scheduling, especially if your manager is willing to work around all their employees. You usually get a 50% discount that you can use once a day too.

Cons

Direct district management at this location does not know how to manage people. He will not really do anything to help or assist until his supervisors look into his stores and what he does. He will shift blame onto any general manager he can, and if any district manager decides you are doing your job incorrectly or you need to adjust what you are doing, there will be little to no support in helping you become a better employee. It really can become a "popularity contest" when you work in store management. If you are a regular employee or shift lead, you won't really have any direct contact with district management.
