Pros

They have standard perks of a San Francisco startup company

Cons

StumbleUpon is a startup when it comes to working hours and human resources. There is never enough developers. People have to work long working hours and do much more than what they usually do in a normal company. When it comes to growth and "startup opportunities", StumbleUpon is a regular company that was around for more than 10 years with a flat cashflow. They are around for more than 10 years with a very small growth. Of course they make money and grow but it's not usual hockey stick growth that you expect to see from a hot startup. My understanding is management at SU don't know how a company goes big.

Pros

The benefits are good. Not many start ups do 401k matching, and SU does. You get lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the lunches are really good. There is breakfast on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This isn't an amazing perk as many companies will serve you lunch every day, but the quality of the food is top notch. You get 4 weeks of vacation time, and this year (for the first time) the company is being giving the week between Christmas and New Years off. I don't know if this will continue though.

Cons

Communication and collaboration are. People, as well management, just make decisions and go with it. It results in bad decisions and bad code being pushed out that no one else knows about. This means that bugs and breaks that could have been found earlier (or avoided altogether), aren't found until later. The culture seems to be "every man for him/herself" and there isn't much teamwork.
