Pros

The office is beautiful and the compensation is pretty generous. The expectations are high and you are surrounded by people who are very smart and very talented.

Cons

If you're relocating, Sacramento is not an ideal place--you have to do some digging to find the interesting stuff there. Supervisors can be distant at times. This is not a job for a person who is idealistic about how change in education will happen--they're a lobbying group posing as a grassroots group.

Pros

They've got a real collaborative atmosphere that's fun to be a part of. They have MacBook Air for each of the interns to use in the office. They give you hands on experience with the higher ups in the company. They hold a lot of tutorials to teach you about policies and best practices.

Cons

You have to really love politics to work there. It's definitely a polarizing field so be prepared for some people to vehemently oppose what you do. As with all internships there is a lot of boring grunt work that goes along with the learning and excitement.
