Pros
The mission in behavioral health is important, and many employees are genuinely committed to the populations served. The work can be meaningful and challenging, with opportunities to take on significant responsibility. Colleagues are often thoughtful and mission-driven, and remote flexibility can be a positive.
Cons
During periods of organizational change, workforce decisions have at times felt abrupt and poorly timed, including changes occurring around major holidays. Communication and change management can be inconsistent, which can be especially difficult in a mission-driven environment. I also observed concerns among employees about whether internal people practices consistently reflected the organization’s stated values around care, equity, and inclusion, particularly as responsibilities expanded without corresponding adjustments in compensation or support. Over time, this contributed to attrition and reduced trust across several teams.
