SPI - Skip, Pass, I.. recommend staying away - Consultant Strategic Partnerships Employee Review

Pros

- Able to learn about government. - Subject matter for content, projects, and discussions can be interesting. - Office is in West Austin and not Downtown which helps some commutes. - Employees do receive lunch breaks to refuel themselves. - Nearby restaurants options are slim but good.

Cons

Turnover Rate -The consistently high turnover rate displays how toxic and unhappy employees are who work here. I really tried to make my time at SPI fruitful and enjoyable... but management berates employees who follow direct instructions from their managers, the CEO does not have a strong forward vision for the company (which probably contributes to why this 30+ year old company operates as a start up still), and lunch time moral among employees is low. Career Advancement -One of the more disappointing parts of my journey in the company was discovering how few employees move from the junior positions within their department to senior positions. This displayed a lack of training/development in young talent and management's uninterest to promote within the company. CEO Attitude - I mean the reviews on Glassdoor already explain what my experience was like... at the end of the day the berating of employees for things that were never their fault and the inability to cast a vision for the company are problems here. Closing Thoughts - A wise man ounce told me that everything in life needs to be worth the investment.. aka the lemon needs to be worth the squeeze. Without a new and fair leader stepping into the CEO spot I'm afraid the lemon that is SPI has been dry for a while.

Pros

I enjoy smaller organizations where you can interact with senior leaders to both learn and contribute at a high level. I also enjoy the highly intelligent staff, the mental stimulation is invigorating.

Cons

I'm sure there are but nothing comes to mind.

Pros

The one upside is that work generally stays at work, and you are not usually expected to spend your evenings or weekends catching up.

Cons

This company is a mess. Leadership is poor, the culture is toxic, and morale is terrible. Most people seemed miserable, and plenty were trying to get out. Taking PTO or being out sick was treated like a personal offense. Management, including the CEO, had no problem bothering people while they were out. The CEO made promises to clients that the staff cannot realistically deliver, then expected everyone to kill themselves trying to meet absurd deadlines. If something went wrong, you get berated. Half the time, you could also get reprimanded for doing exactly what you were told to do. Everything is treated like an emergency, and no matter what you do, it is never good enough. Constant criticism, unreasonable expectations, and zero respect for employees. I would not recommend working here under any circumstances.
