Pros

SALT awards tutors with full certification for tutoring through the College Reading and Learning Association, which is a solid resume-builder for educators or independent tutors/instructors. All training is paid. Tutor mentors are available for advice and regular meetings. Courses are assigned according to applicant's transcripts or professional experience. Great for students, semi-retired or retired professionals. The students are great to work with. The staff is friendly and bend over backwards to help you.

Cons

For Tucson residents, only. Non-students are limited to 19 hours a week, but, they also offer online tutoring appointments and appointments in the Writer's Lab for those who don't have an academic specialty. No benefits, but annual pay increase.
