Pros

My time at Storj has been relatively short, but so far I have been extremely impressed by the company and the team. Everyone at the company is passionate about decentralization and leading the industry in this emerging trend. I've worked in storage, open source and enterprise software for 8+ years, and Storj is by far the most innovative and forward-thinking company I've ever worked for. The company is one of the few blockchain/decentralized application companies with a working product. The pay and benefits are great. The company offers bonuses in STORJ tokens, its own form of cryptocurrency. Regular lunches and other perks as well. Self-starters have a lot of opportunity to champion initiates internally. Really smart leadership team - especially with Ben Golub, former Docker CEO, at the helm. Very collaborative environment.

Cons

The product works, but is still very early and still has a long way to go. Not a good environment for people who are not self-starters or are waiting to be told what to do. Team is somewhat spread out so using tools to bridge the distance is key.

Pros

As far as DEI specifically, Storj should be the model for other companies to emulate. - It wasn't just about the 'word' DEI, it was actually about a plan to help employees grow in the education, inclusion, and camaraderie that comes from a diverse workforce. - It was more than a webpage, but an integrated approach that enabled employees to understand and respect certain cultural and other differences that make the team as a whole way more interesting, unique and respectful of each other - I often see employers 'try' at DEI, but at Storj it was thoughtful and all inclusive. I have reached out to Katherine Johnson, Chief People and Legal Officer to be able to implement some of the great DEI practices at organizations beyond Storj. Absolute amazing resource!

Cons

- No real cons re: DEI specifically. Maybe a little more grace for those of us who haven't mastered pronoun best practices, quite yet but you know what? We need that to learn and respect one another. It was truly a well-rounded and educational program.
