Pros

The managers make your experience other enjoyable or awful. I have worked for the company since high school and was given the opportunity to advance by joining the management team after graduating college. Not my dream job, but I know I can make a difference in whatever store I work in only because I treat EVERY ONE with the same respect that I would like to be treated. I never forget where I started and reflect on that often. Professionalism is used throughout the stores regardless what department one works in and the company emphasizes customer service, new technologies and associate loyalty. The company is focusing on creating a low price image which will in turn increase sales and attract a stronger and loyal clientele. Only semi-decent perk about being a manager. On Sunday's there is a $250 flat rate if one decides to work. Not time and half pay, but for 7 hours not bad.

Cons

1. Hours: a 40 hour work week does not exist. It's more like 45-52 hours per week and forget about the luxury of having an hour lunch. 2. Don't even think about asking for a holiday week off. It's an unwritten rule and you will be ridiculed just for asking, 3. Weekends don't exist. Having a Tuesday or Wednesday off is not ideal especially if you are trying to make plans with your family for a weekend outing. 4. At Least two nights a week are mandatory for assistant managers. try working a 3-12 and being the only adult in the store with teenagers. It's a nightmare. One of those 2 nights is typically a weekend night, so dates are limited. 5. You never know when you will be transferred. Transfers come down one day and the next day you're off to some other store which is typically a good 30-50 minute ride away from where you live. 6. No path is created for young managers. It's sit wait, be patient and maybe if we like you in a few yrs you may be promoted. I graduated with honors, won awards for my stores and as a CSM, worked on special assignments and now am working toward my MBA and still no movement. 7. Male dominated company. Females and have to work much harder to be to taken seriously and acknowledged than the other male assistant managers regardless of the number of years with the company. Women are MUCH nicer and can easily smooth things over with upset shoppers (who are typically females).

Pros

Nice people sometimes, when your coworkers aren’t 50 year old men leering at you while you work.

Cons

Horrible management. Rude, condescending tones, incredibly cruel!
