Pros

Paid weekly. No other "pros"

Cons

There is neither enough time nor space to list all the bad stuff, but it Stevens Transport is TOXIC. Stay away! Consider unemployment or homelessness before working here. No joke. It is AWFUL! Management is stuck in an outdated mindset that all decisions must come from the top and are, therefore, above reproach and cannot be questioned. Once His Majesty has spoken, then it is the Law of the Land and heaven have mercy on your mortal soul should you be bold (or stupid) enough to question it. It is a family owned/operated company that basically fills all executive and leadership roles either by birthright or long-term affiliation with family. Upward mobility is a joke. Formalized training is a joke. Career path is a joke. What's also a joke? Personal happiness. Among the things looked down upon: having an opinion, getting up from your desk, working from home during a deadly global pandemic or inclement weather, talking among co-workers (never mind that it just might have been work-related). The expectation at Stevens Transport is that once you cross through the doorway, you are to shed your biology and humanity and become a mindless robotic drone doing only Stevens work 100% of the time. They don't want innovative, out-of-the box thinkers, they want spineless "yes men/women". They don't want innovators, they want zombie drones. They WILL talk down to you. They WILL disrespect you to your face. They WILL patronize you. They WILL treat grown men & women like children. It doesn’t matter if it’s a brand new hire or a 25-year employee. They will demean and belittle and berate and wear you down until you just give up, give in, and submit to their ideas, no matter how stupid, backwards, futile, or worthless -- and there are plenty of each of those types of ideas. Worst of all is the micro-management. They will ceaselessly micro-manage the ever-loving hell out of every single aspect of every single task you attempt while on the job, every single day, all day long. From the size of the font, to the type of paper a report is printed on, to the placement of a staple on a page. Not an exaggeration. And if it's not the way they want it, they will go back to berating, belittling, and demeaning -- because THAT is what they do best. They have no recycling program, yet use more paper than some 3rd world countries. They only begrudgingly allowed work from home - for some employees - during the COVID pandemic. The 401(k) options are minimal. Time-off accruals are painfully slow for the first 5 years. In other words, they are not concerned about employee well-being any more than what is the barest minimum amount mandated by law. Yet the principals of the company roll to work in their Bentleys, Range Rovers, Mercedes, Porches, and Escalades and reside in mansions the likes of which are obscenely opulent. But don't let them catch you checking a text message from your sick mother, you worthless slacker. By now, hopefully you get the picture. If you are starving, if you are nearing foreclosure and facing living in a shelter or under a bridge, if you have no health insurance and your child is in desperate need of care -- then maybe you might consider breaking that wafer of ramen in half, drilling an extra few holes in your belt, asking family members or mobsters for a loan, or stealing medication from a pharmacy because under NO CIRCUMSTANCE would I ever recommend to anyone - even someone I dislike - to go to work at the miserable, joyless, toxic pit of hell that is Stevens Transport. Ignore this warning at your peril.

Pros

- The structure of the building is very strong and would be sufficient during a tornado. - The filtered water hydration stations are handy.

Cons

In this modern‑day allegory of the Eagles’ classic Hotel California, the story begins with the first red flag. Not the waving, crimson‑colored beacon kind, no, it starts with the small pause that makes you question whether something actually happened. Is that really the method? Is that a fax machine? Do people actually hide in the bathrooms? Working there can feel like assembling a puzzle without a box lid, while passerby drop random pieces onto the table, pieces that don’t even belong to your puzzle. As a generationally deep, family‑owned and operated business, the boundaries stretch endlessly, extending even to neighbors of a cousin. Bright eyes dim quickly, office directions are given by changes in carpet patterns, and punctuation is treated as optional. For an industry that deserves appreciation and elevation for the undervalued work of the professional driver, the ownership has no problem taking accolades for miles they’ve never driven, pushing out the changemakers, and clinging to a rinse‑and‑repeat method that mirrors the very definition of insanity.
