Pros

I have been at Stern for three years and promoted twice. I work hard and love what I do. The people who I work with I see as mentors, who I can learn from and who help me grow professionally. I feel you make your job what you want it to be here, you are not micro-managed and you can always go to any manager for guidance or just to get their opinion about handling any situation. It is a collaborative environment and every viewpoint matters. People here have high integrity and it is great to work with so many creative, smart people. I am lucky to have a career and the ability to maintain a life outside or work too - there has never been an issue if I need to come in late or leave early or if I need to do something during the day. We have flex time which I value so I don’t have to use my PTO bank of time which can be saved for vacation with my family. The company is very generous and concerned about their employees, wanting everyone to succeed and grow professionally. If we can celebrate something we do from employee promotions, holidays, our annual, summer picnic, & personal milestones -weddings, baby showers – it is always nice to hang out with your colleagues on a social basis.

Cons

No negatives. This company is obviously doing something right if they are celebrating their 30th year in 2015.

Pros

Incredible support from leadership and the team. This was always the case but became even more apparent since we began working from home.

Cons

I can't think of any cons.

Pros

Salaries are decent but not worth the aggravation and toxicity of the work environment. Great opportunities to learn foundation of PR. Lots of room for creativity within clients.

Cons

Although employees are expected to have the perseverance a PR professional should, they are not rewarded accordingly with flexible work schedules (i.e. woking from home), free Friday lunches and other incentives set by individual teams. Despite being told the company only works 9 - 5, anyone who tries to leave before 6 is made to feel like they're doing something wrong and despite everyone working extremely hard and long hours, employees are often scolded for not working as hard as management. Management sets unrealistic expectations and if you don't produce you are gone. There is a significant lack of direction from senior management for younger staffers and it’s not really a good place to continue your career. Most of the staff are older folks who have been working with each other for years. Management expects you to not have a life outside of work, but also to not have a life inside of the office. Any type of office camaraderie is deeply frowned upon. This makes for a very harsh, quiet culture. Very unrealistic! Very cheap about sick time and vacation. Salaries are about average. They seem like they are always hiring because they are -- extremely talented PR pros crumble within a few months and are brutally fired or just save themselves and quit.
