Pros

A salary and health benefits. Stuff you can get from any tech job.

Cons

The company has a history of massive and sudden layoffs. The company lacks all will to see whatever direction it has through to completion. Steelhouse's wheelhouse has never been and will never be software development. Every single task is approached as a temporary fix to survive the day or a hacked together solution that cannot scale and will assuredly break. Architecture, or any semblance of it, is mentioned, dreamed of, fantasized about, then chucked out the window by boneheaded business pivots or incompetent and shortsighted engineering management. The result is a collection of disparate hodge podge projects that lack cohesive architecture or development methodology. Nothing worth acquiring populates its rancid portfolio of code. As a software developer this place will stagnate your career -- you are trapped between banging out emergency code for last-minute "do this or the company dies" projects and dealing with the gossipy, back stabby, corrosive interpersonal culture that dominates both offices.

Pros

Personally, I am loving life at Steelhouse! SDRs are compensated well for their efforts here, and I feel like the company is doing everything it can to support this team and push for their success. (ex. hiring and supporting a GREAT sales enablement team, looking into software to help us perform, etc) The people here are warm and welcoming, management is very supportive and engaged, and even the execs take time to chat and check-in. The compensation and benefits package is also great, and I feel like I'm being rewarded fairly for the work I'm putting in. Sales is not always fun! Trying to hit quota can be stressful! But what makes the job bearable are the people around you, the tools you're given, and the rewards you earn for success -- Steelhouse has exceeded my expectations on all three.

Cons

- I'd really love if we were offered a 401K match!

Pros

Pay was ok health insurance was good.

Cons

Was looking for a closer shop to home and found steel house indy fab/install division. Met with the president for breakfast and was told how much we were like a family here at steel house. He went on to say how the profit sharing and bonuses were going to be so great. Right from the gate was treated very poorly talked to like I was a paid slave. Never saw any bonus or profit sharing. The Forman had no business being a Forman. His experience level was less than anyone else working in the shop. He would whistle and expect you to come running like a dog. I’ve been in this industry for 20 years and have never been treated so poorly!
