Great place to gain experience but don't stay too long - Vice President - IT State Street Employee Review

Pros

The benefits are good and the GA, GM and Securities Finance groups are the most desirable ones to join. Most of the jobs are stable until recently when the company strayed from their principles and ended up with riskier assets (off balance sheet financing, couduits, high yield funds by investing in toxic assets). There is an organized hirearchy which is both good and bad

Cons

Internal politics can be too constraining, the structured environment does not encourage quick results and outdated technology is in use for most part.

Pros

Own book runner and strategy. Good work life balance. Good working environment and nice people to work together

Cons

No much growth. Promotion to VP or higher is even forbidden based on company policy. Instead, ask people to move to different role. It doesn't make a lot of sense since it encourage people to find a new job.

Pros

The company has a great severence package. Unfortunately thats a pro because they are laying off workers every 3 months until most of operations are offshore. Decent 401k match and vacation.

Cons

Layoffs, pay is low. Return to office mandate.
