Pros

On the job training, additional hard & soft skills training available, grad school compensation (for fiance/accounting related fields), 3-4 weeks of vacation, 3 personal days, 5 sick days, 9 bank holidays. Work from opportunities vary by department and position level. Some offer 2-3 days WFH at the entry level (A1), some only offer 1 day a week at the senior associate level.

Cons

The biggest problem I have seen at state street, from an A1 to a Team Lead, is the lack of communication skills, particularly among managers. There is a disconnect between management (including upper management) and those actually doing the work. Management doesn't realize many of the challenges faced every day by those doing the work because they choose to be removed from their teams, instead of actively engaging with their teams to understand how the team is doing and what challenges they are facing. Along with this, there tends to be a general lack of support from management. This varies from person to person - I have known a few upper managers who truly care about their employees and truly value feedback. However on the whole, upper management doesn't want to hear that the current process isn't working, even if you have a proposed solution. Even when everyone in the department feels the same way and the department is struggling, management often feels personally offended to hear that there is an issue, instead of approaching feedback with the attitude of, "what can we do to make improvements?" State Street is also suffering from a company wide shortness of staff. Higher management continues to believe that we can take on more and more work, and provide outstanding and accurate customer service to our clients, with continually fewer and fewer employees. Every team and department feels the strain, and every employee carries the weight of having to complete tasks for 1-2 employees that have left the company and were never replaced.

Pros

Own book runner and strategy. Good work life balance. Good working environment and nice people to work together

Cons

No much growth. Promotion to VP or higher is even forbidden based on company policy. Instead, ask people to move to different role. It doesn't make a lot of sense since it encourage people to find a new job.

Pros

The company has a great severence package. Unfortunately thats a pro because they are laying off workers every 3 months until most of operations are offshore. Decent 401k match and vacation.

Cons

Layoffs, pay is low. Return to office mandate.
