Pros

There are a number of people who have been at StarLeaf for a long time and are as friendly as you could hope for. Salary better than average, helping to compensate for poor location (business park in Croxley with little/no amenities). Opportunities for Engineers/Developers are good, with the technical departments given high priority.

Cons

I started at StarLeaf hoping to work for a company with high ambitions and an open culture. Over the multiple years I worked there, both points were completely eroded on multiple fronts: - As noted in many other reviews, the company's strategy is completely dictated by the direction the (now) CEO wants to take. This changes on a frequent basis, and in my time at the company saw multiple 'groundbreaking ideas' pushed through development only to be abandoned when a bright, new, shiny idea came along. - Promotion through the firm is largely based on your relationship with board members, not merit. As such, you have Product Managers making basic decisions that members of the Sales and Marketing teams should be making. Good luck to you in progressing if you don't have an Engineering degree from Oxbridge... - To describe the culture in the Sales and Marketing department as toxic would be an understatement. People leave left, right and centre, both voluntarily and not, the wrong people are promoted and some really good employees have been forced out. Working at StarLeaf was the most difficult period in my life, particularly in the last year, where I came home from work every night and felt genuine fear about going back in the next day. In all my working years, it is head and shoulders above any other company as the worst culture I've seen. I would advise anyone looking at the reviews to really carefully consider your options. The positive reviews are largely from engineers/developers (who by most accounts have good opportunities), but many others are simply because the company asks its employees to leave positive reviews. Look at the number of negative reviews left in the last few years and you'll notice that, for a company of its size, there is something not right at StarLeaf.

Pros

A product that was ahead of it's time. Some features other players wish that had. If the product were still live it would my first choice over the other products in the market

Cons

Lack of marketing and evolution of product on certain features is what doomed the company. Without that one viral moment which we never had, is major reason on failure
