Pros

Everyone is nice here. The owner is super nice, and down-to-earth. He never lets his temper show, and always says thank you for his few tasks. You plan your work schedule with other people in this position (we're all going to school while working) around your school schedule. . Part of your job is to make sure everyone has what they need to get their job done as accountants.

Cons

A few people can be difficult to work with at times, but they apologize when they know they're wrong. It's hard when everyone doesn't plan their time accordingly and they want you to do something quickly, but you have other priorities to take care of. Sometimes there's miscommunication or there can be tunnel vision and something wasn't thought of, but 90% of the time it's smooth sailing here

Pros

Dinners provided during busy season Mostly nice coworkers

Cons

The owner is very condescending and particular about every little detail to an absurd degree, he is not above insulting his employees Pay is not even close to reasonable for the amount of time and work you put in (you get to keep a low percentage of your billing rate) There is no upward mobility; you will stay with the title and position you came in with for as long as you work there Turnover is absurdly high for such a small company of around 15 employees (about 8 left or were fired in the last year alone) They still run adding tapes; technology is not their strong suite and it is not leveraged at all on purpose to charge clients more for the time spend on their projects You are expected to have a high billable percentage every single day and have to announce your billable percentage from the previous day at every morning meeting at which the owner will publicly embarrass you if the % is too low for him If the owner feels you spend too long on a project you will get a call asking to explain why it took so long and you better have a very good explanation Client turnover is extremely high as well as the billing department is very aggressive and sticker shock is common among clients
