Pros

Has a relatively flat organization structure, which allows you to present your ideas to senior executives. Colleagues treat you as peers and you can pretty much dictate which projects/ initiatives you want to work on by either presenting your concept, or putting your hands up. The exposure to a plethora of markets is unparaleled. You get to meet a large number of people from across the network and at all different levels throughout the bank. Has a relatively relaxed culture.

Cons

It's a large universal bank, so expect a highly matrixed structure. For many years, hiring practices has been questionable, meaning the ethnic mix of staff/ and placement of staff in markets may not be in the best interest of shareholders, "minority" group staffs and the bank itself. This is unlikely to change and could result in a talent brain drain - where top-notch bankers either leave, or do not have Stanchart on their consideration list of potential employers.
