Pros

Very nice and warm during the recruitment process. After, on the other hand..

Cons

I haven't seen my husband or kids in months. My days are occupied with trying to procure finishes that need to be installed 2 weeks after management first informs me about a project. I attend countless meetings which make management feel great and my fellow abductees feel awful. We hatch escape plans but the cameras are everywhere. We will not lose hope, even though it is against all evidence. We pray the panic button remains un-rung until our captors retire at the end of the year.

Pros

They will give you what you give out. If you love what you do, they will try to find a way to help you "Fit In" where ever you wish. I was there for over 10 years and they always worked with me and my "wants". They are more about work - life balance that in the past, but I feel if you ask for time off they always accommodated. They have a Who's Who of clients that I loved designing for....and most would. Located in Uptown, the hub of Dallas.

Cons

Parking garage is dangerous, as most people drive too fast in the building the occupy currently - 2525 McKinnon.

Pros

-The cult-like Monday morning meetings are a riot to witness -You get lots of little notes, letters and gold stars, if you're into that sort of thing -Free snacks -Generous base salary

Cons

Things I wish I had known before accepting the positon: -Staffelbach operates more like a design-build firm than an architectural design firm. Projects are fast ("design" is usually done in 1-2 weeks) and a disconcerting proportion of the design work is farmed out to reps. -You must be willing to be insulted by the design principal, repeatedly. Even 20-year veterans are expected to sit and take direct insults in front of everyone -Much of the leadership are bitter, unhappy people and they will make you feel it -When you fill out your weekly projected timesheet, fill it up with hours, even if they are fake. Available time seems to be the primary factor driving most firings. -Most importantly, the modern design of the office is highly misleading. Most output falls somewhere on the post-modern to neotraditional scale, especially the projects that involve either of the two design leads. Old, stuffy, tired design that would have maybe been exciting in the mid- to late-nineties.
