Pros

* Smart and talented engineering folks. * Cloud Custodian community. * Engineers share on-call duty, which helps keep them on front lines. * Remote first company that encourages and provides online experiences and interactions. * The pace and excitement of a startup.

Cons

* Management brings a way of work and baggage from a previous company. * The process for getting new work approved can be side stepped if you have the right ear or are the right person. * Vaccinations and/or masks not required for the company on-site during a pandemic. * Blame culture / lack of blameless retros and post-mortems.

Stacklet Response

Thank you for this review and for the “pros” you added. We value your thoughts, opinions, and experiences. We are opinionated and passionate at Stacklet. Like many organizations, our team’s opinions have been shaped by our experiences and we want to use those opinions to further Stacklet’s mission. If something associated with a manager’s way of working is directly impacting your ability to accomplish the tasks associated with your role, please bring it to the attention of HR so that we can work with managers to help make changes. Two of our Values are “Disagree & Commit” and “Move Fast & Take Risks”. We’re currently a small company, and everyone at Stacklet has direct access to each other at every level. It is vitally important in this early stage that everyone knows their voice is important to our growth, so long as everyone also realizes that not every suggestion for new work will be approved. If you believe you are not being heard, again, please contact P&C or Travis (our CEO) about it so that we can ensure that you are getting your idea/suggestion to the right people. Our virtual doors are always open. While we certainly want everyone to take their well-being and safety seriously, we’re a fully-remote company that does not require our team members to travel (the on-site is optional). We have followed the CDC guidelines since the onset of the pandemic and continue to follow them today. We encourage vaccinations and mask wearing and will be asking unvaccinated team members to present a negative PCR test before we gather. Lastly, in response to the final bullet: - Our teams schedule time for sprint planning/retros - We’ve hosted a company-wide training session on giving/receiving feedback If you feel that we’re still not approaching retros in a blameless manner, please come to P&C or Travis about it as soon as possible (again, our doors are wide open). We take the culture of Stacklet very seriously and want everyone who works with us to feel that they are heard and respected.

Pros

Great people, supportive CEO, fast-moving startup with great opportunities to grow into areas you're interested in. They care about people and not just about the job to get done.

Cons

Still finding their footing on some processes and changes at different stages of growth. Typical startup growing pains. Motivations are great but communication isn't always perfect.

Pros

Working with incredibly smart and caring humans who give 100% of themselves to helping build a wonderful culture, product, and company. Remote work - I'm a massive fan of building healthy remote cultures and am happy to be part of leading on that with Stacklet. We're invested in caring for our team - fun virtual team events, wellness initiatives, unlimited PTO, benefits, etc. Our executive team cares about the lives of everyone at Stacklet and it shows in how we treat people. Transparency - our management team makes a point of sharing where Stacklet is (in all aspects of that word) in an easy and transparent way.

Cons

There aren't cons, actually - we're a fairly early stage start-up with good customer traction. There's a ton of work to be done as we continue to build the company. However, thus far we are doing all we can to scale and grow in a healthy way. We're not perfect and we have (and will continue to) make mistakes, but I've yet to see us get stuck. We learn from our mistakes, shift as quickly as we can, and do our best to listen to our many brilliant voices whenever possible.
