Management were totally disengaged and out of touch. One style for them and another for employees. If you like being micro-managed, then no problem. Just no scope for growth at all.
Spurgeons Response

We have many channels in place to ensure that colleagues can share their feedback with us. Therefore, I am surprised to hear that you felt micro-managing was an issue. The HR team are given the autonomy to manage their own workloads and micromanaging has not been raised on any occasion by current HR employees or any leavers. We have had a number of changes in the senior leadership team over the last year so maybe your experience was prior to that. However please feel free to contact me at HRHelpdesk@spurgeons.org to provide further context to your feedback.

Pros
A nice team
Some lovely people remain (though many were made redundant)
Cons
Bad financial situation, redundancies after redundancies so it feels like there is no job security.
Overworked as there aren't enough people
Leaders don't seem down to earth or to care much - big goals but not realistic
No career opportunities and pay is relatively low
