I can’t say enough good things about working as a nurse at Spring Valley Pediatrics! I started there within one year of graduating nursing school, and parted ways with the practice seven years later only because I had graduated as a nurse practitioner. The way the office is set up, each nurse works mainly with one or two physicians, and most patients have a specific doctor that is “their” doctor (though they can see others if needed or desired). As a result, I got to really know my doctor’s patients and families by seeing them at each visit and answering their triage calls. The close relationships with the patients and their families were so rewarding and one of my favorite parts of the job. I think this set-up is a key factor in why Spring Valley Pediatrics has such a great reputation and high quality of care...they really know their patients! I also enjoyed the many learning opportunities while working there, from asking questions to the doctors or the in-office lab technicians, to the wonderful head nurse Jennifer who has truly seen it all and helped me feel comfortable in a variety of pediatric primary care nursing skills, to the various lunch presentations on the newest medical advances and treatment, there was never a dull moment! The workplace culture is amazing, everyone is so supportive and helpful, and birthday and holiday celebrations abound. It’s not every day you find a job you love so much that you look forward to going to work each day, but that’s what Spring Valley Pediatrics gave me. I hope it can be this place for you too.
Cons
Paper charting (though electronic scheduling), each doctor likes things done/prepared a little different (though not a big problem since you mainly work with one doctor and can always ask questions if you sub for another), traffic can sometimes be an issue at rush hour.
